Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy: Bridging Medical and Psychotherapeutic Care

 When – November 03 | 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm ET

This 3-hour continuing education course is designed for clinicians in medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health settings who want to better understand the different types of ketamine treatment and how they may support client care.

The course will provide an overview of various models of ketamine therapy, including how these approaches differ clinically, medically, and therapeutically. Participants will explore how ketamine treatment may fit into a broader treatment plan for clients struggling with a range of mental health diagnoses.

This course will also highlight the importance of collaboration between medical providers and psychotherapists. Participants will learn how preparation, integration, therapeutic support, and ongoing communication can help clients move beyond symptom reduction toward deeper emotional processing, insight, and lasting change.

Rather than presenting ketamine as a stand-alone intervention, this course frames ketamine treatment as part of a larger continuum of care. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to evaluate treatment options, communicate with clients about ketamine therapy, and consider when referral or collaboration may be clinically appropriate.

KAP Practicum Experiential

(only available as an add-on to 6 week Training)

Rolling admissions. Click the "Buy Now" button to start with a free consultation.

TBD

The KAP Practicum Experiential is designed to enhance and elevate your training experience by bridging theory and practice. This addition to the 6-week training program allows you to deepen your understanding through direct, immersive participation. By engaging in the practicum and experiential components, you’ll gain firsthand insight into the full spectrum of the KAP process and its transformative effects. This experience will not only strengthen your clinical skills but will also enrich your ability to guide clients through their own therapeutic journeys with greater empathy and confidence.

During the consultation we can address how the number of medicine sessions can be tailored to your specific needs and the participation of clinicians who may or may not want to take part in this component.

What is the event/workshop about?

Practicum Component:
In this Practicum component, you will be paired with fellow training participants for collaborative sessions outside of the six virtual training sessions. Together, you will work through each step of the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) process, including intake, preparation, medicine sessions, integration, and discharge, assuming both the roles of “client” and “therapist.”
This partnership allows you to engage deeply in each phase, exploring and discussing the experience from both perspectives (client/therapist).

Experiential Component:
Throughout the workshop, you will have the opportunity to participate in two medicine sessions as the “client,” where you’ll experience the therapeutic journey firsthand. Additionally, you will guide two medicine sessions as the “therapist,” supporting your matched partner through their experience. This dual-role approach enriches your understanding of the process and enhances your confidence in facilitating KAP with your future clients.

What specific skills or knowledge will participants gain through the experiential practicum?

The experiential practicum offers participants invaluable skills in guiding clients through the complete Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) journey. Participants will gain firsthand experience in structuring sessions, preparing clients for the medicine, and integrating therapeutic insights post-session. A unique feature of this practicum is the opportunity to experience the medicine itself, allowing participants to engage with the same process they will later support clients through. This first hand exposure offers a deeper understanding of the unique emotional and psychological responses that KAP can evoke, equipping participants with the empathy and expertise needed to address clients’ needs sensitively and effectively.

How does this hands-on experience differ from the theoretical knowledge covered in the 6-week training?

The experiential practicum builds on the theoretical foundation by offering an immersive, in-depth application of KAP principles. While the 6-week training covers essential knowledge like KAP protocols, client screening, and therapeutic goals, the practicum focuses on applying these concepts in real-time. Participants will engage in live demonstrations, role-playing, and peer-to-peer practice, which helps bridge theory to practice and provides a tangible feel for the flow and challenges of actual sessions.

Are there particular therapeutic techniques, exercises, or frameworks that will be practiced during the sessions?

Yes, the practicum includes experiential exercises specifically designed for KAP. Participants will practice various therapeutic frameworks such as guided imagery, somatic tracking, and grounding exercises tailored for the KAP setting. Additionally, they’ll work on the art of integration—learning structured methods for helping clients process their experiences post-session. These frameworks will enhance clinicians’ ability to support clients in making sense of their journeys, solidifying insights, and fostering long-term personal growth.

Is the experiential practicum required for completing the 6-week KAP training?

No, the experiential practicum is an optional, add-on component designed to enhance your learning experience. While it’s not required to complete the 6-week KAP training, it provides an elective opportunity for those interested in a hands-on, immersive experience with the medicine. This practicum allows participants to deepen their understanding and develop a practical familiarity with KAP that can strengthen their skills but is not essential to embark on or benefit fully from the core training.

Testimonials:

  • “The experiential practicum was a game-changer for me. While the 6-week KAP training provided an incredible foundation, the practicum allowed me to apply what I learned in real-time, which boosted my confidence immensely. Having the chance to engage with the medicine firsthand gave me a unique insight into what my clients will experience, helping me feel truly prepared to hold space for them. I walked away with a solid understanding of both the therapeutic process and the practical aspects of KAP, and I’m now confident to bring this transformative therapy into my practice.”

    — Dr. Sam Martin, LCSW

“Participating in the experiential practicum as a team was invaluable. It allowed us to set up our clinic’s physical space exactly as it would be for KAP sessions, which gave our therapists the hands-on experience they needed to feel comfortable and confident. We were able to work together, discussing therapeutic techniques and preparing our environment to support clients. This practical, immersive experience enabled our entire practice to transition seamlessly into offering KAP services. The practicum truly bridged the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application, making our onboarding process smooth and cohesive.”

The maximum number of participants varies depending on the specific workshop or event. Some larger workshops are designed to accommodate more attendees, focusing on providing foundational knowledge and insights through presentations. Conversely, our smaller, more intimate sessions are capped at a limited number of participants. This smaller group size fosters deeper discussions and personalized interactions, creating a nurturing environment that allows for individualized attention and support.
While regular attendance is encouraged to foster connection and continuity within the group, participants are not required to attend every session. Consistent participation will enhance the overall experience and support collective growth. However, if you let us know in advance that you will be unable to attend a session, we can arrange to record it for you, ensuring you don’t miss any valuable information.
The times vary based on the specific Programming. You can find upcoming dates posted alongside some of the workshops. The other workshops or offerings are open for registration, allowing you to sign up and be added to the list. Once all participants are gathered, we will reach out to provide options for upcoming dates that work for everyone.
